Learning to code isn’t about becoming a software engineer — it’s about gaining leverage. Code is the closest thing we have to a money-printing language. You can automate your work, build small tools, launch apps, analyze markets, or create digital assets that earn while you sleep. Even basic scripting skills can turn you from "employee" into "operator." That’s a power shift.
Look at it this way: the modern economy runs on software. If you don’t understand the engine, you’re just a passenger. I’m not saying quit your job and build the next unicorn. I’m saying learn enough to build systems, automate income, and spot opportunities others can’t see.
Learn code not to get a job — learn it so you can own the job market.

Be careful — not every useful skill needs to become a side hustle.
If your job has nothing to do with technology, coding may not give you a direct return on your time. Your energy is limited. You might be better off deepening expertise in your current profession, earning certifications, or strengthening skills that lead to promotions and job security. Stability and predictable income matter.
That said, basic digital literacy is wise. Understanding how technology works can protect your career from becoming obsolete. But you don’t need to become a programmer — just competent enough to stay relevant and collaborate effectively.
Learn coding if it protects your career — not just because it sounds impressive.
